Salem News: STILL No Senior Center?

Published in THE SALEM (MA) NEWS 05/28/2011.
A number of city projects have been continually postponed or delayed. What else can you remember that took a long time? Like MANY YEARS?
This cartoon is a bit of a milestone as well. I used to letter my cartoons by hand. but started to do it by computer because it was a LOT easier to change mispellings and other such mistakes electronically. You know how much of a pain whiteout can BE?
The thing was, I was never quite satifified with the lettering choices I had in Paint or Corel, they looked way too sterile,(Don't even get me STARTED on COMIC SANS!) and the options I saw on pro font stores didn't fit much better, so, I went to an online site called and had one made based on my own hand lettering style. And I must say I'm Very satisfied. I think the look just adds a lot to my cartoons and I don't have to deal with bad whiteout or overerasure. And yes, I call it "SMIGFONT"!

Controversy! Part1

This is actually a B&W mini-comic I produced and sold via mail-order (thru promo ads in Comics Buyers guide)a few years before the internet really started up. Originally I had wanted to do more with my FOR ART'S SAKE characters beyond what the editorial limits of CBG would allow and this seemed to be the best way to do it at the time. (Closest I ever got to self-publishing.
Reality TV was not around at this point, yet it seemed that people would start screaming over anything over what they considered the least bit appropriate or indecent, ignoring the fact that it really had no impact on life whatsoever.
(face it, if there's one thing the human race does exceptionally, is complain)
WARNING: The tone and images you will see in this story are quite different from the COMICS BUYER'S GUIDE strips. Some strong language as well..

Double Dealing

I did this cartoon for THE SALEM (MA) NEWS but since it's one of the few I did that dealt with a national rather than a local issue I decided to submit to the BOSTON WEEKLY DIG SUNDAY COMICS PROJECT website as well. And while the NEWS published it
(05/07/2011) in black and white, I colorized it for its appearance in THE DIG (05/08/2011)
Ain't I stinker?
But you can guess the gist of this one. Party does one thing, The opposing party goes against it, no matter WHAT.
