January Rejection Wrap-Up

Not every Cartoon I submit to the SALEM NEWS makes it. Here's a rundown of the ones that WEREN'T used that I submitted during the past month.

First, one to end the holidays with.
Mayor Driscoll makes her State of the City address.
This one may have been too obvious.
I redid my earlier Charlie Hebdo cartoon into a version for the news, but they didn't take.
Based on the "Deflategate" scandal. It seemed really bad for the Pats at first.
Local sewage treatment center pays money it gets from  local communities to Salem in lieu of taxes. Salem wants to up the rates.

Salem News: 2014 Olympics Coming To Boston

To many people, the 2024 Summer Olympics being held in Boston is far from a good idea. Especially since the astronomical costs may just add to the city's already massive, deep hole. My Cartoon as appeared in the 01/16/2015 SALEM NEWS.

Je Suis, Charlie Hebdo

I've never been overtly political, but this effects me on a professional level. The outright murder of ten journalists- four of them cartoonists- of the French satirical publication CHARLIE HEBDO by Islamic fundementalists is too much for me to just let pass. You can discuss religious dogma and blasphemy at me 'til you're blue in the face- but NO religion OR god has the right or justification to kill anybody, ESPECIALLY if said person doesn't agree with your  viewpoint, be it expresses via spoken opinion, words on paper, or yes, even a cartoon.  Here's my old CBG characters to further comment on the issue:
A while after I drew up THIS cartoon, I read an article by Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, saying while he didn't condone the violence, essentially stated that the CHARLIE HEBDO staff brought the disaster upon themselves. Why am I not surprised he'd blame the victim?
