When I read the story I based this cartoon on, the old tune from "The Music Man" immediately popped into my head. From the 12/27/2013 SALEM NEWS.

Salem News: Confident In Her Decision

Published in THE SALEM (MA) NEWS 04/08/2011:
Salem Mayor Kin Driscoll was seriously considering a run against current MA Senator Scott Brown but decided against it. All the quotes are taken vertabrim from the news article this cartoon was based on. To me it sounds like she's trying to convince herself more then anyone else. I guess anyone who has a chance a become a Senator would be a little reluctant (and regretful) to give it up.

Zip Car (Salem News 04/24/2010)

Local issue Cartoon. Apparently one of the reasons they've delayed hiring a new Principal for The Horace Mann Middle School is due to uncertainity of both funding and whether or not the city will allow the school to remain open. These new car services in which a person rents a car for only a few hours at a time for short errands seems like a plan the schools could possibly adapt.
