Renew ABC'S THE MUPPETS!

With the ABC-TV network getting a new president, the new MUPPETS- which the previous president was a big supporter of- may be on shaky ground despite valiant efforts to improve the show and its ratings. I drew this cartoon to try and send to ABC as well as various venues thru Facebook. I think given a little more time to develop and a second season, the show can truly become a solid hit. Did Somebody Say BAM?

Ran across this. The Brooklyn Academy of Music was doing a special exhibit of the Jim Henson Foundation's MUPPETS, MUSIC, and MAGIC, and a number of TOUGHPIGS members had planned to go down and meet. Regrettably, I was unable to attend myself, but I whipped up this art (in B&W) and mailed it directly to TP (I think Danny Horn was still in charge at the time) In case they wanted to do anything promotional . Some time after the show, I got back this hand-colored (by Martha Hayes Crannell- thanks, Martha!) copy of my art back autographed by the late great Jerry Juhl, with the caption: "To Smig- Where the heck were you?" Mr. Juhl, If I knew, I wouldn't have been where I was!

Salem News: Highland Avenue Study

Highland Avenue is a stretch of Highway that goes from Salem into Lynn…It's a MAJOR traffic area, very cluttered and rocky, many areas have inadequate sidewalks and even more have NO sidewalk at all. It's so bad cyclists will not go on it unless they absolutely have to, and it's even worse for pedestrians, for walking is very high risk. The Mass Dept. of Transportation recently completed a study of the area, hoping to get improvements going, especially as Salem plans to build a multiscreen entertainment center in the area.
